Nha Trang to Ho Chi Minh City: Train, Coach or Flight

Take the SE7 train for a daytime trip that reaches Saigon in the afternoon, or the SE1 train or a sleeper coach to sleep on the way. Fly from Cam Ranh when time matters most. Check the fare when you buy, because it can change.

Which way should you go from Nha Trang to Saigon?

Take the SE7 for a daytime trip, the SE1 or a coach to sleep on the way, and fly when time matters most.

Train: SE7 by day, SE1 by night

The SE7 leaves Nha Trang at 08:47 and reaches Saigon at 17:00, so you arrive late in the afternoon.

The SE1 leaves Nha Trang at 22:42 and reaches Saigon at 06:30. On the SE7, a soft seat is VND 263,000 and a 6-berth lower bunk is VND 472,000. On the SE1, the same two are VND 452,000 and VND 895,000.

Fares include insurance and can change with purchase time, passenger type and seat position on the coach, so check the price when you buy. The station is at 17 Thai Nguyen Street, and bus route 07 has a stop on Thai Nguyen Street a short walk from the station. Sleeper coach: three listed fares

The sleeper coach is the budget option, with listed fares from VND 219,000 to VND 511,000 depending on the operator.

• Huynh Gia: VND 219,000, departures listed between 09:00 and 23:00.
• Phuong Trang: VND 350,000, departures listed between 08:00 and 23:00.
• Xuan Hai Limousine: VND 511,000, departing 22:00.

The route is 421 km and the trip is listed at 8 hours. Confirm the pick-up and drop-off points with the operator before you pay, because the listing does not settle them.

Flight: Cam Ranh to Saigon

Vietnam Airlines one-way economy fares start from VND 842,181, and the airline notes that a fare shown may no longer be available when you book.

Cam Ranh International Airport is 35 km south of the centre of Nha Trang city. Route 18 runs from the Nha Trang station stop (19/8 Stadium) to the airport, costs VND 50,000 per person per trip and takes 50 to 60 minutes. For taxis and shuttles, see Cam Ranh Airport to Nha Trang.

Check-in counters open 3 hours before departure and close 50 minutes before departure, so leave the city early enough to reach the airport before they close.
