Opening hours

The December 2025 guide says the market opens from 6 pm to 11 pm daily. The Maps listing shows 5-11 PM, in a single row for Monday. A May 2026 guide says stalls set up from about 4:30 to 6 pm.

The same guide says the market is busiest between 7 and 9 pm, and most vendors close by 10 to 11 pm. A hotel guide gives 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

So the sources disagree on the start and the close, from 5 pm to 7 pm and from 10 pm to 11 pm. Expect stalls to open in stages. Dam Market is a daytime market that closes at 18:30.

What things cost

Prices vary a lot, and these figures come from one December 2025 guide:

Item Price the guide gives
Souvenirs from 50,000 VND
Specialities such as dried squid and seahorse 50,000 VND to 1,000,000 VND
Clothes, average about 100,000 VND per item

A May 2026 guide says portrait artists typically charge between 150,000 and 300,000 VND, depending on size and detail.

Paying and bargaining

A May 2026 guide says almost every stall is cash only, so bring small bills. It says reductions of 50 to 70 percent from the opening price are realistic if you negotiate and are willing to walk away.

Reviewers split on bargaining. One reports 50% off, and others say you can haggle. One reviewer says haggling is quite difficult and the price falls only to about the shop price.

The December 2025 guide advises shopping towards the middle or end of the market for better deals. It says prices can be higher, so consider bargaining.

What to see at the Nha Trang night market

The tourism portal describes the walking street as a place of food, shopping and small arts. The stalls stretch along a lane the portal puts at 137 m. A May 2026 guide says roughly 500 m between Tran Phu and Hung Vuong. The two sources differ, so treat the length as roughly a few hundred metres.

Food

The portal counts 16 food stalls. It lists bun cha, cha ca and banh can, plus fried squid and breaded shrimp. It also lists ice cream and sweet soups such as pomelo, green bean and lotus seed.

A May 2026 guide says there are no proper sit-down food stalls and the selection leans toward snacks. It lists dried fruit, nuts, dried seafood, fresh-pressed juice, ice cream, banh can and grilled skewers.

A hotel guide says seafood is especially prominent. It says food prices, especially seafood, vary between stalls, so confirm the price before ordering.

Recent reviewers agree that food is thin. One gives the split as food 10% and clothing 90%. Another says many shops sell miscellaneous goods but not many food stalls.

If you buy dried goods by weight, a May 2026 guide says several visitors flagged short-weighing, so watch the scale.

Clothes and souvenirs

The portal says stalls sell handcrafted goods, clothing, handbags, sunglasses and backpacks. The December 2025 guide says average clothing prices are about 100,000 VND per item. Recent reviewers say the market is mostly clothes and souvenirs.

A May 2026 guide says counterfeit branded goods are common. A hotel guide says not every item is unique and some products feel tourist-oriented.

Reviewers say the same goods repeat from stall to stall and the quality is low. One reviewer says some magnet souvenirs are priced at airport duty-free levels.

Specialities and gifts

The December 2025 guide lists dried squid, tamarind squid, yellow-striped scad, bird’s nest, dried seahorse and mango cake. Prices run from 50,000 VND to 1,000,000 VND. It says souvenirs, many made from sea snail shells, start from 50,000 VND.

Portraits and street art

The portal says visitors can have a portrait sketched, or choose calligraphy or engraving. A May 2026 guide gives portrait prices of 150,000 to 300,000 VND.

What recent reviewers say

Google reviews from September and October 2026 agree on five things:

  • The market is small. Reviewers call it one block, a bit small, or a single row of clothing shops.
  • Most stalls sell clothes and souvenirs, with little food.
  • You can bargain, though one reviewer says it is quite difficult.
  • Prices are higher than in shops or at Dam Market, say several reviewers.
  • The same goods repeat and some of it is junk.

One reviewer puts it in one line: it is a rip-off compared with Dam Market.

Who it suits (and who should skip it)

  • A short evening walk by the beach: the market is a short walk from the sea and takes 30 to 60 minutes.
  • Souvenir shoppers who will bargain: reductions of 50 to 70 percent are realistic.
  • Snackers: ice cream, juice, banh can and skewers are on offer.
  • Skip it if you want a full dinner: there are no proper sit-down food stalls.
  • Skip it if you dislike haggling: reviewers say prices are higher than in shops.
  • Skip it if you want authentic goods: counterfeit branded goods are common.

This guide gives no hours for them.

Dam Market by day

Dam Market usually opens from 5:00 a.m. to 18:30 daily. The Maps listing shows the same 5 AM to 6:30 PM. The national tourism site says it gets busy, especially in the early mornings and evenings.

The curved wings sell seafood, dried goods, grilled nem and souvenirs, and the centre sells essential goods. Several night-market reviewers say Dam Market is cheaper.

The market is built in a lotus shape, 66.5 m across, with one ring-shaped upper floor. The two floors cover 5,270 m2 and hold more than 3,000 people at once. It was officially renovated and reopened on 3 February 1980. The national tourism site says some 1 000 people pass through each day.
