Best Area to Stay in Nha Trang: Tran Phu, Hon Chong, Bai Dai
For a first visit, stay on Tran Phu, where the night market is a two-minute walk from the beach. Pick Hon Chong, about 4 km from the centre, for quiet. Pick Bai Dai, 10 km from the airport, for a resort week. Island resorts suit you if you want a boat ride to town.

Tran Phu: central beachfront for a first visit
Tran Phu is where the beach, the night market and a supermarket all sit within a short walk of each other.

The night market at 46 Tran Phu opens from 6 pm to 11 pm daily. Come between 7 pm and 10 pm if you want it at its busiest. From the market, Tram Huong Tower is a walk along the beachfront and 2/4 Square is five minutes on foot.

Good for: first-timers, evenings out on foot, and halal eaters, since many halal restaurants line Nguyen Thien Thuat Street and the central beach on Tran Phu Street. Skip if: you want silent nights, because the market is at its liveliest in the evening.
- Beach and market: read Nha Trang Night Market for what it sells.
- Evenings: see Nha Trang nightlife bars for bars along the sand.
- Swimming: check swimming safety at Nha Trang Beach before you go in.
- Airport: the Cam Ranh Airport to Nha Trang guide compares bus, taxi and shuttle for the 35 km run.
Hon Chong: quieter, but you ride to dinner
At Hon Chong the boulders come first and the beach second: the sand starts just north of the rocky promontory and runs along Pham Van Dong Street.

Good for: couples and anyone who wants a calmer base with the headland on the doorstep. Skip if: you want to walk to restaurants, because the way into the centre is a Grab or taxi ride.
Po Nagar Cham Towers is about 2 km south of Hon Chong on the same road, so the two pair naturally. Read the Hon Chong Promontory guide for hours and the walk around the rocks, and the getting around guide for Grab and taxi basics.
Bai Dai and Cam Ranh: a resort week near the airport
Bai Dai is the pick when the beach is the trip: 10 km of fine white sand that slopes gently into the water.

Rooms along the beach are built close to the sea, with a very short distance from room to water. The beach lies in Cam Lam commune, so you will ride to dinner and anywhere else, and the airport is an easy first or last stop.
Good for: a resort week where you rarely leave the sand. Skip if: you want bars and street food on foot, because the city is a long ride away. The airport bus covers the city to airport leg, not the beach itself; see the airport transfer guide for options. More on the beach: Bai Dai Beach, Cam Ranh.
Island resort stay: Hon Tam by boat
Staying on the island means the hotel runs your boat for you: guests who book a room at the Hon Tam resort get a two-way transfer to and from the island.

The Hon Tam port is near Cau Da port and the Oceanography Institute. The Vinpearl cable car also departs from Cau Da Port in Nha Trang city, so Cau Da is your mainland meeting point either way.
Good for: a resort stay where the boat is part of the holiday. Skip if: you want to walk to the night market, because you need the boat first. See VinWonders Nha Trang, tickets, hours and cable car closure and Hon Tam Island before you book.
